We are all at risk for termites, even though No one wants to have them. Termites do not discriminate-they invade any home. Some may think a termite infestation is just irritating, but they can do more damage than you may know. They are a vital part of our ecosystem, but in our houses they are damaging. If you do not detect them before they begin doing big damage, they can destroy your entire house.
It is rather unfortunate that homeowners don’t even know they have termites, not until a lot of harm has already happened. Having some knowledge about the beginning signs of termites will help protect your house before the problem starts or escalates. Termites will do more damage to a chunk of wood in a short amount of time. Thus, knowing what to look for would most likely help you stop termites before they can cause insurmountable harm.
You should know that not all termite infestations can be seen by the naked eye. A little more time & a more trained eye is required in order to discover these wood eating creatures. Your floors, walls, furniture & other areas of the home that is made of wood are some of the usual places they attack. Another tip to help determine termite infestation is checking in mud holes and piles of feces.
Check areas where termites normally would go, to see if there are any signs of infestation at all. Check outside, in the garden and lawn area; dead leaves, tree stumps and mud holes in the soil. Also look for entranceways into your walls. See if your walls have cracks or spaces where they could go. You should also check moldings, window sills, basement walls and doorframes.
If any show signs of feeding activity, you should reach a professional exterminator or pest control company. You can even do it yourself if you have knowledge and equipment. The point is stopping the termite problem before it even starts
